An Introduction To Aquaponics
Recently Treehugger.com has had a couple of posts on something called Aquaponics which triggered my interest. Like everything else that catches my attention, I began to research it to learn more and see if its something I might want to pursue further. In this case, it has thoroughly captured my attention and I am looking to start an experiment in my basement based on the concept of aquaponics. I am sure by now you are wondering what exactly aquaponics is, well, quite simply it is the combination of Aquaculture and Hydroponics. Aquaculture being the process of growing your own supply of fish to eat, and hydroponics being a soil-less form of growing vegetables.
Going Green And Getting Off The Grid
Lately I've been doing a lot of research on 'going green' or more importantly getting your house off the grid. With today being 'Earth Day' I thought it would be fitting to write up a quick post about this fascinating subject. Personally, I find this an extremely interesting subject because although I strongly believe that we all have to do our part to help the environment, I also feel a financial pull towards achieving this. Wouldn't it be great to get a hydro bill in the mail that was $0 or even better, was telling you that your hydro company owes YOU money!
