Using the strategy of Canada's Youngest Retiree by Derek Foster was the first investing book that I had read that was written by a Canadian for Canadians, and it is probably the one book that has had the largest impact on my long term investing strategy. This book is about the method that Derek Foster used to retire at the age of 34. Quite simply, the method that Derek Foster used to retire, was to concentrate on recession proof dividend based stocks. Although this book is a couple of years old (2005) I would highly recommend anyone interested in a dividend based investment approach to pick up this book and give it a read. Even if you are not a Canadian, this book is still well worth the read for its retirement strategy ideas.
