Beginning Meditation Journal, Day 2
Today was the second day of meditation, and It went pretty good I think. Maybe I did this a little premature, but I wanted to try the AUM meditation method as described on AnmolMehta.com. This technique has you doing a couple of things different to normal meditation, first, is you want to look at the middle of your forehead (as close as you can without straining your eyes). Second, you want to have your thumb touching your index finger and rest both hands on your knees. Finally you want to repeatedly Say the word 'AUM' or OM. Breath in through your nose, and let the air slowly out your mouth while making the sound. Concentrate on having the sound emanate from your 'Third Eye', which is located in the middle of your forehead, just about your eyes. You can get a much better description, as well as a video tutorial at the link I provided above.
On to my days practice, it went good, I was able to stay concentrated and practicing it up until the 7 minute mark, where my body decided to let out a huge yawn. This broke my concentration and I felt weird continuing with the meditation, so i finished up the last 3 minutes doing a normal concentrative meditation just like I did yesterday. I didn't have too much wandering thoughts, but that could be because I was concentrating on making the AUM sound. It didn't feel like I was meditating as well it didn't seem like any 'activation' of my third eye occurred, but I really didn't expect that, since I am just beginning at this, I think I might switch between the two meditation techniques for a while. Although I haven't fully decided, I might just stick with the concentrative meditation technique for now, until I get better at it, and then I'll start trying the more advanced ones. What do you recommend?
I am heading away for part of the long weekend (visiting parents and in-laws), so I may not have time to practice my meditation, I will definitely try though, and If I do find time, I'll make sure to write about it when I get back from the trip.

Thanks!
Thanks for the encouraging words, I am going to keep practicing, and I will definitely make sure that I am not hard on myself.

One major stumbling block of
One major stumbling block of meditation is expecting it to be anything other than what it is. When we compare and judge we get wrapped up. Each meditation is what it is, precious in it's way. Even the struggles. Especially those! So, please, don't be so hard on yourself. Go easy, be easy, with yourself. Your easy heart will lead you. But keep the daily practice. Even after 10, 20, 30 years of practice it won't be any easier than it is right now. That's why they call it a "meditation practice." We're always practicing. Hee hee! But, oh, the change that comes within... Peace.
